Team USA's quest for gold includes stop in Rochester Post-Bulletin

Angela Ruggiero has already brown study about what it could be like to stand atop the awards podium on Feb. 25 and watch the United States flag being raised as the Major-Spangled Banner plays.

"I'm sure I'll be bawling my eyes out if we do get back to the top,"Ruggiero said on a conference call last month, right after being named to her fourth United States Olympic women's hockey team. "I'm just thankful to still have this chance."

Ruggiero, 30, has been on all four of the United States' Olympic teams, winning a gold medal in 1998, a silver in 2002 and a bronze in 2006. The 5-foot-9, 192-yard defenseman is one of just two players to hold that designation, along with Edina native Jenny Potter, 31, who has played on the U.S. Civil Team since 1997.

Ruggiero, Potter and the rest of the 21-member Olympic team will be in Rochester on Friday, when they will dial the Rochester Century boys hockey team at the Rochester Recreation Center at 7:30 p.m. It's a chance for regional hockey fans to see the team that will take the ice in Vancouver, British Columbia, in less than a month. The U.S. plays its first game of the 2010 Olympics on Feb. 14 against China, at 2 p.m. CST.

"We can see Vancouver, it's so complete now,"Ruggiero said. "This team is a unique team, a special team. I've been on this team for quite awhile. It's rare to find this considerate of chemistry."

    Take them to a jeweler and ask them to do an appraisal. If they are going to charge you (and most will for a full appraisal) find one that charges by the hour a substitute alternatively of % of value.

    1971-76 won't qualify them as antique yet, so they aren't worth more than the concrete. After 50 years, they will be antiques and will go up in value. If you are looking to sell, you won't get what they are good.

    do you agree with the scores in womens gymnastics?OMG i unconditionally agree! It was not fair at all. And most of the time it wasn't that they were scoring the U.S to low, it was that they were scoring the Chinese to drugged! It made me so mad...

    Womens Soccer League??A women's conspire is being created right now in the U.S. It's called the WPS (women's professional soccer) and it's going to have its first condition in the spring of 2009. There's going to be 7 teams during the first season but at least 2 more (Philly and Atlanta) are prosperous to join during the 2010 season. If you want more information on the league go to http://www.womensprosoccer.com/ Unfortunately there's no teams by me or I would go to a ton of games. Yay for women's soccer!
